Anybody here know how to "roll" the fender lips on a fox body stang?

I'm going to be running some bigger tires in the rear pretty soon, but I have a problem. My car is lowered. I've asked around and people say I should be able to run the size tire I want (275/50/15), but that I will probably have to roll the fender lips in order to have no rubbing issues. I've heard of people doing this by hammering them in with a rubber mallet, but I want to go the safe route and look for the special roller tool. Does anyone have one of these tools that would be willing lend a fellow member a hand? If not, then it's cool. Thanks!

I think you can rent a tool. My friends dad rolled his own fenders in his bmw. I will give him a call and see where he got it.

Yup you can rent a tool, I'm not sure of any places around here, but you can rent them online but it cost a lot cause they charge you for a new one or something to make sure they get their's back, then you get your money back or get yourself a wooden bat/cloth and roll it with the tire.... works too

Chris, I just did mine. I actually grinded about 1/8 to 1/4 inch from my fenders, then just lipped them up a little but. The slicks I have that use to rub, now are a perfect fit, as seen in the video from Lebanon. If your careful the paint won't chip too bad, but a bottle of touch up paint can't hurt to have on hand. I'll show you my car, and tell me what you think about doing it to yours.

Thanks Craig. If I could I'd like to see how you did yours first before I go and destroy mine lol. Judging from your pictures, those slicks of yours seem to be pretty close in size to the 275/50's I want to run. My car is lowered, but your car has 4 cyl springs so it is "lowered" a bit as well. Did you have to remove the quad shocks?

Quads are still there. The slicks are Hoosier's which are 9" wide tires. Yeah, my car is ghetto lowered. You be around tomorrow? I work till 4, if you wanna meet up, you know where to find me.

rolling

www.rollyourfender.com

Did this on my wrx, worked great, no chipped paint and great results. Takes about 2 days to ship from TX, and about 30 minutes to roll both of my wrx rear fenders.

Ive tried "rolling" the lips on my rear quaters quite a few time over the years and the best results ive had were cutting the inner lip off. You can gain almost a half inch , but be careful not to cut to close to the quater itself or you'll actually seperate the fender well from the quater. Ive had tires as big as 275/60/15's on a few cars. As a matter of fact i just fit that exact size tire on the back of my wagon using the above method. When you "roll" the lip you actually thin the metal and can deform the outside of the quater or better yet "pull" holes like i did once.
